I have found this cool free broken link checker software Xenu . It works pretty fast, and also user interface is very nice and clean.
Any website owner should check the broken links on their sites once in a while. Especially if you have a directory style website, you should be checking the broken links frequently.
With Xenu, you can also use a local feed to check the broken links, or a specific folder in the site structure.
This is the description from Xenu's site:
Xenu's Link Sleuth (TM) checks Web sites for broken links. Link verification is done on "normal" links, images, frames, plug-ins, backgrounds, local image maps, style sheets, scripts and java applets. It displays a continously updated list of URLs which you can sort by different criteria. A report can be produced at any time.
- Simple, no-frills user-interface
- Can re-check broken links (useful for temporary network errors)
- Simple report format, can also be e-mailed
- Executable file less than 500K
- Supports SSL websites ("https:// ")
- Partial testing of ftp and gopher sites
- Detects and reports redirected URLs
- Site Map
I hope this will help somebody. Enjoy and thanks to Tilman Hausherr for offering this software for free.
